Education is the way out of poverty — but it costs money
In Uganda education is often a privilege of the better-off. Attending school means paying fees and wearing a uniform. Many families can afford neither. As a result many children — mostly girls — stay at home after the first or second year to help in the fields.
This is exactly where our sponsorships come in. They cover the school costs of an orphan and make continuous schooling possible.
How the programme has grown

School uniforms for our sponsored children
Every school has its own uniform, with its own colours and cut. For each child, measurements have to be taken and the cut, type and number of uniforms determined. All uniforms are made by a professional tailor on site — which also secures work in the region.
In 2024 we distributed 54 new school uniforms to orphans.
When help has to be immediate
Sponsorship contributions are earmarked for school costs. But again and again we face individual cases where more is needed — a hospital stay, a roof over someone’s head. For these we maintain the emergency account „Orphans in need“. What that can mean in practice is shown by the story of Daniel.
