Brillen ohne Grenzen
This initiative from the Saarland collects used glasses, refurbishes them and makes them available to projects like ours. For 50 euros a five-kilo parcel can be sent to Uganda — enough for around 150 people to see well again.
Die Hörstube Saarburg
Hearing loss is a global problem. In Germany, hearing-care professionals and hearing aids are available at any time; in Uganda specialists exist only in the large cities, and patients must cover every cost themselves — unaffordable for a population living in poverty.
David Stefanczyk, who runs Die Hörstube in Saarburg, accompanied the Apwoyo team to Uganda with the support of the Lions Club Saarburg to set up a hearing studio and train local staff. A doctor on site has been trained in hearing tests, taking impressions, ear cleaning and hearing-aid maintenance.
The studio opened in the health centre in Ngora and is the only one of its kind in the country. Together with our glasses station it creates care that exists nowhere else in the region.
Donate old hearing aids: used devices can be handed in at Die Hörstube Saarburg, Heckingstraße 12–14. They are cleaned and repaired free of charge and then given to people in Uganda.

Donating glasses
Used glasses can be handed in at the Hörstube Saarburg and at Bücher Volk in Saarburg. From there they reach us in Uganda via Brillen ohne Grenzen.
