Katurlikire: building a health post and a sanitary block
A main project in 2025 was building and setting up a health post in Katulikire in the Hoima district. Father John, one of our trusted contacts on the ground, gave us active support.
Project report
Dear friends and helpers,
once again we have completed many aid projects in Uganda. One of them is the new health centre in Katulekire, the parish of our friend Father John.
Medical care for Uganda’s rural population bears no comparison with German standards. The hospitals are far away, and there is a lack of suitable transport to bring sick people to the nearest one.
Relatives of the sick have to care for them themselves. Besides cooking, that includes washing and feeding their sick family members.
Background and implementation
To counter this shortcoming there are local health centres. A health centre is a health post where major operations cannot be performed. Often a health centre has – if at all – only a few beds, since only minor injuries can be treated here, or births attended.
The health post was given a weather-protected waiting area, a sanitary block and two new rainwater stations.
For the staff, a dilapidated house was restored in which two health centre employees can now live.
The health post staff were equipped with donated goods from Germany and as-new hospital clothing, medicines and new dressing materials.
