Project description
Dear friends and helpers,
Volksbank Trier Eifel eG again supported our project this year with a grant from its crowdfunding pot.
After the successful project year of 2023, we were able to take part in the Volksbank crowdfunding programme again last year.
Thanks to the support of many donors, our project to equip the kindergarten in Ngora, Uganda was successfully completed.
The kindergarten was given a colourful, child-friendly new coat of paint inside and out. New toys, floor mats and child-friendly learning and play areas were also set up.
The new rooms give the children a place full of joy, movement and security.
Project status
Our helpers collect toys for pre-school children and use them to equip the kindergartens they have refurbished. Play mats are added so the children do not have to play on the bare floor, along with small chairs and tables for crafts.
„We first had to show the children what a jigsaw is, or what you can build with Lego bricks“, recounts Hermann Boos, a member of Apwoyo e. V. Once the ice was broken, the children’s natural urge to play knew no bounds.
Even Father Denis, the project’s patron, was delighted by the variety and joined in enthusiastically.
Project background
Many children in Uganda grow up in difficult conditions. Kindergartens and schools often have very few materials and offer hardly any child-friendly ways to learn and play.
Colourful learning spaces, toys or safe areas to play and learn are often missing.
For small children in particular, movement, creativity and playing together are essential to their development.
With our kindergarten project we want to give children a safe, friendly place where they can laugh, learn and forget their worries for a while.
Implementation
As part of the project, the kindergarten was completely renovated and brightened up inside and out.
The buildings were given a colourful new coat of paint with child-friendly motifs and learning areas.
New floor mats, toys and seating were also bought so the children can play and learn in a safe environment.
Together with local helpers and supporters, the project was successfully completed.
The future and what comes next
On our next mission in Uganda we want to improve the kindergarten’s water supply further.
A 10,000-litre water tank is planned to secure access to clean water permanently.
A new playground is also planned, giving the children even more room to play and move.
Many achieve more – that’s us! That’s you! That’s me!
