Project description
For years, one focus of our voluntary work in Uganda has been the education and training of orphans.
In Uganda, school fees must be paid to attend school, and many families cannot afford them. Orphans have it especially hard, as they are often entirely on their own.
Project status
We currently support 80 children at six different schools in the form of sponsorships. The aim of a sponsorship is to give disadvantaged children a school education.
Besides paying the school fees, every child receives new shoes, a uniform, clothing and school supplies from us. Some children even received a goat for Christmas or a personal gift from their sponsor in Germany.
Project background
Besides schooling, our sponsored children also receive medical care — and that can decide between life and death.
Thanks to the swift action of our helpers on site, the lives of two sponsored children were saved: Daniel and Christine. Both were treated and cared for in the local hospital for several days; both are well again.
This year part of our team spent a whole day with a sponsored child in hospital, to make sure it got the best treatment available locally. A sponsorship that saves lives.
Implementation
The support is provided directly on site together with local partners and schools.
The pictures record personal encounters, the handover of materials and various support activities for the children.
